We're proud to be recognized as: One of Fortune's Best Workplaces in Aging Services A San Francisco Chronicle Top Workplace A Best of Home Care - Employer of Choice and Leader in Experience POSITION OVERVIEW The Home Health Aide (HHA) at Care Indeed provides essential personal care and daily living support to clients in their homes, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with an established care plan. HHAs focus on comfort, safety, dignity, and quality of life through non-invasive, hands-on support with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and maintaining a safe home environment while observing and reporting changes in client condition to the clinical team. Many HHAs also hold Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, reflecting expanded training and readiness for hands-on care across settings, while the HHA role centers on home-based support aligned with home health standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide hands-on personal care, including bathing, grooming, oral care, toileting, dressing, and skin care Assist clients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation to promote safety and comfort Support clients with meals, hydration, and prescribed dietary needs; assist with feeding when needed Maintain a clean, safe, and organized client environment, including changing bed linens and light tasks tied to client well-being Assist with prescribed exercises and range-of-motion activities as directed by the care plan Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature (including rectal temperatures when trained), and weight as assigned Observe, document, and promptly report changes in client condition, behavior, or safety to the supervising nurse Follow infection control, safety, confidentiality, and home health policies in all client interactions Participate in care discussions and case conferences to support continuity of care Document care provided in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Qualifications (HHA) Current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Completion of a CDPH-approved 40-hour HHA training program (for active CNAs) or 120-hour HHA training program, including a successful competency evaluation Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification if applying through the 40-hour HHA pathway Criminal background clearance and Live Scan fingerprint clearance. Current CPR certification (American Heart Association preferred) Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English for documentation and care coordination; bilingual skills welcomed based on client needs Ability to accurately observe, report, and document client status per care plan requirements Successful completion of required employment screening and reference checks Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull during the course of care Ability to safely assist with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation, including lifting up to 50 lbs as needed Sufficient visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to provide safe personal care and monitor client condition Ability to work in varied home environments with differing layouts and accessibility CPR PROVISION (Two-Week Window Option) A valid American Heart Association CPR certification is required. Candidates may be hired before obtaining it, but must secure certification within two weeks of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Proof must be submitted to the supervisor within the deadline. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE Required licensure/certification/registration must be maintained throughout employment. Proof of current, valid credentials must be provided upon request. WORK ENVIRONMENT & CARE SETTINGS Care is provided in diverse settings, including private homes, assisted or independent living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals, and involves close, direct interaction with clients. This role may include exposure to blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials. It may require responding appropriately to urgent or emergencies in accordance with training and agency protocols. Some assignments may require local travel. WORK SCHEDULE Work schedules vary based on client needs and may include short or extended shifts, as well as day, evening, weekend, or holiday assignments.
