Description: As a Senior Staff Detection Engineer, you will be a key member of UKG's Global Security Detection Engineering team. This global team is dedicated to detecting and responding to sophisticated cyber threats and attacks. In your role, you will leverage a robust set of tools and resources to proactively detect, investigate, and respond to emerging or persistent threats impacting UKG and its customers. Your Responsibilities: Provide hands-on solutions, customize and tune, automate, and develop use cases for the SIEM, SOAR, Agentic AI, and other stakeholder requirements for threat-informed defense strategies. Lead and contribute to production-level projects, collaborating with multiple stakeholder teams including Security Operations Center (SOC), Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, and Incident Management. Work effectively within a globally distributed team, creating and presenting strategies, technical plans, and architecture to technical and executive leadership audiences. Maintain existing internal code and use cases, while further extending SIEM and SOAR integrations aligned with the Detection Engineering program. Design and engineer Security Operations-focused integrations and automations, including detailed diagrams, documentation, and threat modeling. Support the Director of Detection Engineering in enhancing the strategic capabilities of the program through complex technical projects. Qualifications: Proven ability to lead complex projects and other team members, supporting the establishment of strategic and technical initiatives. 8+ years of security and hands-on technical automation experience, with 5 or more years focused on creating use cases and detection-focused automation. 5-7 years of operational experience in security teams such as SOC, Threat Intelligence, or Incident Response. Deep understanding of SIEM, SOAR, Agentic AI development, MLOps, and other engineering best practices, as well as ways to extend or customize threat detection automation. Demonstrable proficiency in major scripting/programming languages or search query languages applicable to security operations and threat detection. Experience with major public cloud service providers (CSPs) is required, Google SecOps (Chronicle) or Splunk experience is preferred. The pay range for this position is $163,900.00 to $235,550.00. Actual base pay may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
