Senior Oracle PL/SQL Engineer

Description: We are looking for a skilled Oracle PL/SQL Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work every other week for 5 days in Durham, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services and expertise in PL/SQL, focusing on rigorous data handling to support finance functions. Your role will involve processing large, business-critical datasets, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, performance, and secure operations. You will be part of an Agile team that values collaboration and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. W2 Responsibilities: Develop, optimize, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views, in a mission-critical environment (10+ TB systems). Perform aggressive performance tuning for queries and stored procedures, analyzing execution plans and optimizing queries and indexing strategies to support very large datasets. Build and enhance robust data ingestion pipelines using SQLLoader for bulk loading from diverse sources. Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts for task automation, scheduling, monitoring, and orchestrating database jobs and ETL processes. Address complex data integration challenges where data flows bidirectionally between internal systems, external feeds, and the Oracle database. Ensure high availability, data consistency, and recoverability in environments where downtime or data loss is unacceptable. Collaborate with architects, DBAs, and stakeholders to evolve the database layer that supports enterprise-scale operations. Occasionally create or enhance reporting solutions using Oracle-compatible tools. Experience Requirements: 7+ years of experience with Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, relational design, recoverability, ETL, data modeling, and performance tuning. Demonstrated experience delivering complex Oracle queries, packages, and advanced database features. Strong hands-on experience with Unix shell scripting. Experience building proof-of-concepts on reporting platforms and integrating with Java applications. Familiarity with CI/CD practices, including configuration management, test automation, version control, and static code analysis. Critical thinking skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Experience working with global, geographically distributed teams. Familiarity with reporting solutions such as Oracle, SSRS, Business Objects, or Power BI (preferred). Relevant developer certifications in Database or Snowflake (preferred). Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. Developer certifications in Database or Snowflake (preferred).
