The Ethics & Compliance function plays a crucial role in protecting EY from professional practice risks. Our teams provide coordinated advice on regulatory and risk management issues, ensuring robust management and oversight of ethics across the organization. Position: Associate Director of Enterprise Risk Management The Opportunity In the Ethics, Compliance, and Risk Management (ECRM) sector, we support our team in navigating the risks that arise daily. Our work involves identifying, managing, and monitoring risks while providing valuable advice on compliance, independence, conflicts, and ethics-related queries. The Associate Director will be pivotal in leading Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for the US Firm, driving the enterprise-wide risk strategy, implementing the approved three-year roadmap, and partnering with senior leadership to integrate ERM into strategic planning and operational practices. This position collaborates closely with US Firm leadership and serves as a key liaison with EY Global Risk Management, ensuring alignment with global strategies and frameworks. The goal of this role is to strengthen the US Firm's risk posture by embedding ERM into strategic planning, transformation projects, and operational decision-making. Responsibilities will include overseeing risk assessments, aligning risk appetite, and reporting to executives while establishing a Center of Excellence for risk practices alignment in coordination with EY Global. Your Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Lead the US Firm ERM team, set a vision for ERM capabilities, establish a Center of Excellence, and foster a risk-aware culture while collaborating with cross-functional leaders. Risk Assessment: Oversee risk identification, ratings, and scenario analysis across the firm, maintaining a standard risk taxonomy and developing advanced assessment methods. Risk Mitigation & Control: Develop and monitor risk mitigation strategies, evaluate control effectiveness, and ensure alignment with EY Global expectations. Reporting & Communication: Produce comprehensive US Firm risk profiles and executive-level reports that communicate key trends and emerging risks. Framework & Process Development: Establish and maintain ERM governance, principles, policies, processes, and methodologies. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Ensure alignment with US regulatory expectations and coordinate with Global on regulatory themes. Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements in ERM processes, incorporating lessons learned and adopting new technologies. Lead complex initiatives requiring advanced analysis and cross-functional leadership. Interpret regulatory requirements to make informed decisions. Influence the development of US Firm risk appetite aligned with Global standards. Evaluate ERM and GRC technology solutions. Translate risk profiles into actionable insights for senior leadership. Skills and Attributes for Success: Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues. Proven capability to integrate ERM with strategic planning and transformation agendas. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas for leadership. Ability to lead across all levels, including driving cross-functional initiatives. Strong coaching and mentoring skills. Understanding of services that intersect with risk management. Proficiency with risk management tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Robust network of relationships with key stakeholders across the organization. To qualify, you must have: A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or similar experience. 10-12 years of ERM or relevant experience in a complex environment, including 5 years in leadership. Extensive experience with change management principles. Proven ability to build and lead a risk management function. Strong knowledge of ERM frameworks and regulatory compliance. Ideally, you'll also have: An MBA. Professional certifications like RIMS-CRMP, FRM, or similar. Understanding of different industry sectors.
