The Senior Technology M&A Strategist plays a vital role in researching and analyzing IT financial models prior to acquisitions, identifying both risks and synergy opportunities related to target companies' organizational structures, technological capabilities, processes, applications, and infrastructure. This role involves tackling moderately complex to complex issues that require thorough evaluations of various factors. Job Overview The Senior Technology M&A Strategist focuses on technology integration planning during acquisitions, emphasizing IT integration strategy, synergy modeling, investment planning, scenario analysis, and financial due diligence support. It merges strong M&A execution skills with FP&A disciplines including cost modeling, financial tracking, variance analysis, and generating executive-ready reports. The role also leverages modern tools to automate analyses and accelerate insights, ensuring leadership receives clear, data-driven recommendations throughout the M&A lifecycle. Key Responsibilities IT Integration Strategy & Scenario Modeling Develop various integration scenarios (full, partial, coexistence, platform consolidation, migration sequencing). Evaluate operational, financial, and technical implications of each scenario while summarizing trade-offs for leadership. Create structured scenario models reflecting integration costs, synergy timing, resourcing needs, and risk factors. Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, engineering, and operations teams to refine integration paths. Technology Investment Planning Prepare detailed investment plans outlining one-time integration costs, recurring changes, tooling needs, and workforce impacts. Ensure investment assumptions are aligned with leads across Infrastructure, Apps, Cloud, Data, and Security. Incorporate FP&A rigor into planning: timing, pacing, cash flow, cost categorization, and forecast accuracy. Continuously maintain and update planning models throughout diligence and integration phases. Managing Approvals & Preparing Leadership Lead preparations for investment approval forums, clarifying assumptions, risks, scenarios, and alternatives. Develop executive-ready materials for CIO, CFO, Corporate Development, and Board reviews. Simplify complex technical data into clear financial and business implications. Provide structured recommendations to facilitate fast, informed decision-making. Synergy Identification & Modeling Create synergy models focusing on infrastructure consolidation, vendor optimization, tooling rationalization, cloud efficiencies, automation, and organizational leverage. Validate synergy assumptions with functional owners and link them to integration execution plans. Monitor synergy realization, update forecasts, and identify delivery risks. Financial Analysis, Due Diligence, and Automation Support technology financial due diligence by analyzing cost structures, contracts, and operational cost drivers. Apply FP&A skills for variance analysis, run-rate normalization, and sensitivity analysis. Utilize automation tools like: Power BI / Tableau for dashboards & variance tracking Alteryx or Python/Excel for data transformation Adaptive Insights / Anaplan / Workday Adaptive for planning Smartsheet or Miro for integration sequencing Develop templates and automated workflows to speed up diligence analytics and synergy tracking. Enhance M&A financial processes through repeatable frameworks and tool adoption. Actuals Tracking & Performance Monitoring Create dashboards for actuals vs. plan concerning integration costs, run-rate changes, and synergy realization. Work closely with FP&A teams to ensure accuracy and consistency with enterprise financials. Identify variances, risks, pacing issues, and decision needs for leadership. Cross-Functional Coordination Act as a key liaison among Technology teams, Corporate Development, FP&A, Procurement, Legal, HR, and the IMO. Facilitate workshops to validate costs, integration paths, and synergy assumptions. Ensure team alignment on integration strategies, timing, scope, and financial impacts. Use your skills to create an impact! Qualifications 6-10+ years of experience in Technology M&A, Technology Strategy, FP&A, or Integration Management. Strong FP&A skills: forecasting, cost modeling, variance analysis, and reporting. In-depth understanding of IT integration patterns and enterprise technology environments. Experience in supporting due diligence, integration modeling, or large-scale technology programs. Proficient with automation and analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, advanced Excel). Exceptional communication skills suitable for executive-level interactions. Ability to influence leaders across functions and operate in dynamic M&A environments. Preferred Experience Previous M&A integration experience in technology. Experience with integration PMO or synergy tracking tools. Background in major cloud migrations or enterprise technology transformations. Certifications in advanced modeling or analytics (e.g., Power BI, Python). Additional Information This position allows employees to work from home or a hybrid model, but an appropriate internet service connection is required. Minimum recommended speeds are 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may need approval. California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota residents may receive reimbursements for internet expenses. Humana provides necessary telephone equipment for remote employees and requires work to be conducted in a dedicated area free from interruptions. Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Pay Range: The compensation range for this role is $106,900 - $147,000 per year, which reflects a good faith estimate for full-time employment. Actual pay may vary based on geographic location and candidate's skills and experience. This position is eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based on individual and company performance.
