Job Summary and Responsibilities The Telecom Equipment Installation Lead is a key player responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment across various carriers. This includes managing fiber optics, transport equipment, and essential infrastructures within central office settings. This lead role ensures superior service in data centers, mobile telephone switch centers, central office wire centers, and enterprise spaces. Key Responsibilities: Supervise the installation, maintenance, and modification of telecommunications equipment including: Cable trays and racks Data cabinets, servers, switches, routers, and other critical devices Power distribution frames (BDFBs) and fuse panels Label and route cables for AC/DC power supply and data transmission. Conduct performance testing and document the efficiency and reliability of hardware and software systems. Perform integration activities and resolve any technical equipment issues. Read and interpret detailed specifications, schematics, and method procedures (MOPs). Ensure quality validation for both in-progress and completed installations. Complete necessary operational paperwork including expense reports, timesheets, and job documentation. Mentor and oversee less experienced installers to ensure project success. Serve as the primary contact for customers, communicating project status effectively. Collaborate with various departments including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management. Perform additional duties as assigned. Safety Responsibilities: Commit to compliance with safety regulations and participate in job site safety analyses. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or college degree preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in central office equipment installation. Understand AT&T, Telcordia, and/or Verizon Quality Standards. Familiarity with transport equipment such as Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Calix, Adtran, Nortel, Nokia. Experience with fiber optic cable and AC/DC power installation and testing practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office and mobile applications. Able to interpret technical documentation and drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and basic power tool usage. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities. Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must have reliable transportation to carry minor job-related tools and equipment. Language Skills: Able to interpret safety rules and writing routine reports. Effective communication skills within the organization. Physical Demands: This role requires standing, using hands, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and the ability to lift between 5-50 lbs regularly, with occasional lifting over 50 lbs. Vision capabilities required include close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment. Climbing ladders is also necessary. Work Environment: The typical work environment noise level is moderate.
