Job Description

Position: Facilities Maintenance Technician The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs to buildings, facilities, and equipment, ensuring they remain in optimal condition. Key Responsibilities: Conduct repairs and maintain facilities effectively. Perform general maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, appliance repair, and electrical work. Clean and maintain equipment such as walls, ceilings, cooler fans, and ice machines. Assemble necessary items like storage racks, utility carts, and shop vacs. Ensure proper floor care in assigned areas. Utilize pressure washing as needed for maintenance. Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment. Assist in set-ups and tear downs for scheduled events. Be available for on-call duties as required. Clear snow using appropriate tools when necessary. Support campus activities and promote a safe learning environment. Complete additional duties as assigned. Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Abide by all safety procedures at all times. Conduct preventative maintenance checks on equipment. Maintain tools used in maintenance tasks. Assist with safety drills and exercises. Help manage traffic flow during campus activities. Other duties as assigned. HVAC Support (When Required): Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and repairs. Conduct inspections and change filters as necessary. Customer Service: Interact positively with residents, clients, and team members. Respond to paging systems in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. At least 3 years of experience in general maintenance or trades. Possess HVAC experience (3 years) if applicable to the role. Familiarity with CMMS software is a plus. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Check and maintain a valid driver's license. Strong problem-solving skills and discretion are essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Dependable and takes ownership of responsibilities. Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to handle challenging situations with a positive attitude. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Understanding of maintenance program requirements post-training. Ability to use department equipment effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Able to interact positively with students, clients, and the public.
