Middle School Afterschool/Enrichment Program Leader - Badger Rock Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison's public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more! Program Description: MSCR offers Afterschool Programming at all 12 MMSD Middle Schools. MSCR Middle School Afterschool programs are geared towards student choice and operate on a "drop in" model. Program leaders should have the desire and passion to lead a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, STEM, youth sports, social-emotional learning, as well as daily homework help for youth in grades 6-8. Job Description & Duties: .• Supervise students attending Afterschool programming (including during sporting events & field trips). • Plan and lead a variety of afterschool clubs (SEL, STEM, Sports, Cooking, Academic, Gaming, etc.). • Ensure students are following program rules and expectations. • Create an environment that allows students to feel safe and respected at all times. • Communication with students, families and school-day staff. • Maintain appropriate attendance. Start Date: 3/30/2026 End Date: 5/29/2026 Work Location: Badger Rock Middle School Hours/week: 10-18.5 Work hours: Varies - typically Monday-Thursday 1:30pm-5:00pm Payrate: 16.00 - 17.40 /hour Minimum Qualifications: • Desire to create a positive impact on middle school-aged youth. • Ability to arrive on time and stay on site during scheduled shifts. • Strong communication with coworkers and supervisors. • Ability to adapt and be flexible to program changes and needs. Preferred Qualifications:• Experience working with middle school-aged youth. • Experience in planning and leading activities. • Experience with social and emotional support needs of middle school-aged youth. • Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong. • CPR/First Aid certification.Other Information: If interested, please complete the MSCR online application.
