Construction Engineering Inspector

Volkert is seeking an experienced Construction Engineering Inspector with relevant industry certifications to join our Midwest Construction Services Group. This position is available in Carbondale, IL or Collinsville, IL. Salary range for this role is $24 - $35 per hour. As a Construction Engineering Inspector, you will engage in routine inspection work that may include both manual and electronic calculations. Your primary responsibilities will involve the independent inspection and documentation of construction processes and materials, ensuring compliance with construction contracts. You will work under the guidance of higher-level inspectors, project engineers, or resident engineers. Your responsibilities will include: Performing engineering computations Documenting and inspecting construction work Testing materials in the field Inspecting truck load tickets for aggregate, asphalt, or concrete Writing daily inspection reports, conducting verification testing, and documenting test results and observations Carrying out SWPPP inspections Assisting with record keeping and field measurements as needed Working under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer and/or Construction Engineering and Inspection Manager What you need to bring: High School Diploma or equivalent A minimum of four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, especially in bridge and/or roadway construction IDOT experience is a plus IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification is highly desired Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to work in the United States Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required Commitment to applying safety practices and programs in all operations Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening A clean motor vehicle report (MVR) If applicable, successful completion of a post-offer fit for duty evaluation Why choose Volkert?
