What a Lead Engineer, Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health The Workday Lead Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated Workday integrations and solutions that enhance Cardinal Health's enterprise HR and business operations. This position demands advanced technical expertise and a commitment to delivering scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that have a broad impact across the organization. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring of fellow engineers are essential components of this role. Responsibilities Direct the design, development, and ongoing support of intricate Workday integrations across various domains such as HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, Security, and interconnected enterprise systems. Champion enterprise initiatives like Workday Public Cloud Migration, Workday Everywhere, EDM, and third-party vendor integrations. Create and sustain secure, scalable integration solutions employing Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, CIC+, APIs, and SSO. Collaborate with HRIT, Security/IAM, Network, Infrastructure, and external partners to ensure compliance, reliability, and performance of solutions. Conduct impact assessments, execute remediation, and manage bulk updates related to tenant migrations, reference ID alignment, URL adjustments, and security enhancements. Establish and refine integration standards, monitoring, error resolution, and support processes to mitigate operational risks. Support production transitions, post-production stabilization, and continuous enhancements. Oversee M&A integrations, ensuring efficient coordination and operations across dual Workday tenants. Design and execute Workday Orchestrations to automate intricate business processes and integration workflows. Utilize Workday Extend to develop and maintain custom applications that complement core Workday services and integration solutions. Serve as a technical mentor, providing advice, conducting reviews, and recommending best practices. Qualifications 8-12 years of relevant experience is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred. Workday Extend certification is considered a plus. Deep understanding of Workday integration architecture is preferred. Demonstrated success in leading multi-phase Workday projects, tenant migrations, or enterprise-wide technology transformations is preferred. Proven ability to navigate ambiguous environments, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions is preferred. Independently determines methods of implementation while aligning with overall goals. Engages in and shapes the development of standards, policies, and procedures. Delivers solutions that may set benchmarks for technical or operational practices. Mentors junior colleagues to foster skill development.
