POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking an Experienced Surety Bond Desk Adjuster to manage claims valued up to $15,000. This role involves thorough examination of documents, loss reports, and relevant records while utilizing technology for efficient case management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims related to surety bonds with a focus on performance, payment, and various bond types. Utilize strong analytical skills and legal knowledge to manage complex claims involving contractors, obligees, and underwriting partners. Conduct fact-finding through document reviews and communications with legal counsel and witnesses. Prepare detailed evaluations and recommendations, managing claims through resolution with support for litigation, mediation, and settlement. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal claims handling standards. Maintain accurate and timely claim files within our claims management system. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding claim status. Review insurance policies and related documents to determine coverage. Estimate repair or compensation costs and negotiate settlements according to carrier instructions. Recommend litigation when necessary and participate in depositions and hearings. Revise case reserves to reflect probable costs and maintain an efficient caseload. Leverage technology and automation for improved claim handling. Submit claims exceeding $15,000 for leadership approval. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Licensing: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Must obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months in the role. A state adjuster license is required. Experience: At least three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is needed. Previous experience in property and casualty claims is beneficial but not essential. Skills: Empathetic approach to claims handling. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Ability to produce comprehensive and accurate reports. Team player with strong negotiation skills. Proven ability to meet performance goals. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Consideration for reasonable accommodations will be given when applicable. Mental: Requires clear thinking, good judgment, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Physical: Computer keyboarding and occasional travel as required. Vision/Auditory: Clear hearing, vision, and communication abilities are necessary.
