About the Role: We are building a cutting-edge data governance platform that enables customers to effectively manage the structure, policies, and discoverability of their real-time data. This platform includes features for schema management, policy enforcement, tagging, and cross-organizational data sharing. As an engineering leader, you will work closely with our Product team to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the next generation of governance features, ensuring the reliability and security of our existing systems. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design, development, quality, and operations of technologies influencing both cloud and on-premises configurations, while also maintaining our open-source Schema Registry. What You Will Do: Lead and inspire a global team of software engineers and engineering leaders, driving high productivity and engagement. Shape the long-term vision and strategy for Governance in collaboration with stakeholders. Innovate in governance and related technologies to maintain a competitive edge for Confluent. Improve schema management processes and transition towards thin client architectures. Attract and retain exceptional engineers while establishing quality standards and operational excellence. What You Will Bring: Over 10 years of engineering management experience successfully leading high-performing teams. Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and motivate engineers while upholding high-performance standards. Solid foundation in distributed systems design and development. Demonstrated success in delivering features and consistently meeting deadlines. Strong prioritization skills and urgency to achieve impactful results. Ability to anticipate technical needs and develop actionable plans from customer insights. A visionary approach to drive long-term success through ongoing technical and product innovation.
