Job Description Join our Distributed Database team, where we are pioneering a globally distributed, elastic, cloud-native relational database that fuses the best of NoSQL and NewSQL technologies with the robust capabilities of Oracle RDBMS. Our initiatives cover all layers of the database kernel, including parallel query execution, transaction management, and replication, as well as crucial external components like client-side drivers, intelligent query routers, and load balancers. We are also at the forefront of emerging technologies in distributed databases, including Vector and Text Search, Microservices, Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Graphs. We are seeking passionate and skilled system engineers eager to contribute to high-impact, strategic projects that tackle complex challenges in distributed computing, high availability, and extreme scalability. As a vital member of our software engineering division, you will greatly influence the definition and evolution of best practices and procedures. You will take charge of defining and developing software for design, development, and debugging tasks related to software applications and operating systems. This role is non-routine and complex, demanding advanced technical and business skills in your area of expertise. You will be a leading contributor, collaborating with and mentoring others. Ideally, you should hold a BS or MS in a relevant field or possess equivalent experience, along with 10 years in software engineering or a related area. Responsibilities The role requires experience and/or a strong interest in database internals, distributed systems, replication technologies, load balancing algorithms, and evaluating trade-offs among consistency, availability, and performance in distributed systems. You should possess the following skills: Expert-level proficiency in C programming Fluency in SQL; PL/SQL is a plus Strong foundation in relational database and operating system concepts Understanding of concurrent programming concepts Excellent software engineering and debugging skills Proven track record of delivering high-quality software under time constraints Strong collaboration skills, particularly in geographically distributed teams Disclaimer: Certain customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable health and immunization requirements. The hiring range for this position in the US is $96,800 to $251,600 annually, with eligibility for bonuses, equity, and compensation deferral.
