Job Summary: We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Surgical Assistants and Organ Preservation Specialists. This role involves crucial support in organ procurement and preservation processes. You will assist in every aspect of organ recovery, including packing supplies, preparing the operating room with aseptic techniques, and ensuring proper organ packaging in accordance with OPTN guidelines. Compliance with all Paragonix and Transplant Advocate policies is essential. Essential Functions: Pack supplies for the operating room and meet the surgical team at a predetermined location. On scheduled call days, be readily available for organ recovery efforts. Ensure adherence to all state, federal, and local regulations and policies. Assist in the recovery of donor grafts while complying with the regulations of Transplant Advocates, Paragonix clients, and associated medical staff. Actively participate in hospital and medical staff committees that address donor issues as requested by transplant centers. Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to develop best practice protocols. Work alongside team members to mentor and evaluate new personnel. Maintain expert knowledge of all Paragonix devices. Support teams in the use of Paragonix devices during non-service case interactions. Provide top-notch customer service and communication within multidisciplinary teams. Utilize and train on the Paragonix App or other communication methods. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or equivalent experience in a transplant-related field. Experience in pre-operative and post-operative care for transplant patients, including involvement in a minimum of 20 heart transplants and 20 lung transplants within a UNOS-approved transplant program, or overall experience of at least 20 thoracic transplants in the past two years. Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist. ABTC certification as a Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) or Certified Transplant Coordinator (CPT). Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or Registered Nurse First Assistant (RN FA). Physical Environment: OSHA Class 1. Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds consistently. Willingness to travel using various methods, including ground and air transport. Must be capable of responding to an operational hub within 2 hours or reaching a major commercial airport within 1 hour. Compensation: Rate: $1,000 per case
