Technical Engineering Manager (Focus Area: Interoperability & API Engineering) At WelbeHealth PACE, we are dedicated to helping seniors thrive in their communities by offering compassionate medical care and essential services. Our mission revolves around making a significant difference in the lives of our participants through innovative solutions. The Technical Engineering Manager serves as a vital hands-on technical leader responsible for delivering high-quality APIs, integrations, and AI/ML-enabled services within the Interoperability & API Engineering team. This role emphasizes technical leadership while promoting organizational growth. You will be instrumental in architecting solutions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and high-performing, all while adhering to healthcare standards. What sets this role apart at WelbeHealth: Play a crucial role in shaping secure, compliant, production-grade systems that support vulnerable seniors; your focus is on being a hands-on technical anchor rather than merely managing delivery. Make impactful decisions that directly influence healthcare delivery, compliance, and participant outcomes, working at the intersection of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, PHI/PII), cross-functional collaboration, and rapid innovation. We prioritize our team members, offering: Comprehensive medical insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision). A strong work/life balance with 17 days of personal time off (PTO), 12 observed holidays, and 6 sick days. 401K savings plan with a company match. A robust compensation package, including base salary and bonuses. And other valuable benefits! Your daily responsibilities will include: Technical Leadership & Hands-On Engineering Oversee the architecture, development, and delivery of APIs, microservices, and integration pipelines for healthcare systems, while serving as the most senior engineer on the team: designing components, writing high-quality code, troubleshooting complex issues, and conducting thorough code reviews. Create scalable, cloud-native solutions using Azure, containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), and advanced integration frameworks. AI, Automation & MLOps Integration Establish repeatable MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. Develop prototype proof of concepts (PoCs) to validate new technologies, workflows, or AI-enabled automations prior to scaling them for production. Team Leadership, Mentorship, & Execution Guide and mentor a team of engineers, cultivating a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. Act as the escalation point for technical challenges, directing the team towards effective solutions. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Cloud, Security, and other engineering teams to craft integration strategies and solution blueprints, translating intricate technical designs into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders. Security, Compliance & Healthcare Standards Ensure all development is in compliance with HIPAA, PHI/PII-safe engineering practices, and healthcare interoperability requirements, applying standards like FHIR, HL7, EDI, and other relevant interoperability patterns as necessary. Job requirements include: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of eight (8) years in software engineering, with at least three (3) years in a senior engineering or team leadership role. A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience with AI/ML, Azure AI Foundry, or related AI integration frameworks. Strong experience with Python and/or Node.js for API development and data integrations; familiarity with Microsoft Azure tools is essential. Prior experience in healthcare, interoperability, or API-focused environments is required. Proficiency in REST/GraphQL API design, microservices patterns, and authentication/authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, Entra ID). Familiarity with MLOps tools (Azure ML, MLflow, Databricks) and container ecosystems. Experience with interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, EDI, or clinical integration workflows is highly desirable. If you are an Engineering Manager with a passion for leadership, hands-on experience with AI/ML, and a background in healthcare, we invite you to become part of our dedicated team that values its participants and team members alike! Salary/Wage range for this position is $132,181- $174,478 per year + Bonus. WelbeHealth offers a competitive total rewards package, including a 401k match, healthcare coverage, and a wide array of other benefits.
