Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer - DB2 Specialist

Key Responsibilities: Provide expert DB2 Systems Programmer support and services for mainframe clients, focusing on performance and reliability. Conduct mainframe database software upgrades, administration, and tuning to enhance the DB2 environment. Collaborate with vendor personnel to resolve database issues efficiently. Manage daily database maintenance, including backups, restores, monitoring, scheduling reorganizations, and maintaining disaster recovery procedures. Optimize database performance through reporting and analysis of configuration efficiency. Participate in on-call responsibilities and fulfill customer service orders for mainframe z/OS customers. Act as the primary support for DB2 tablespaces and ensure 24/7 support across multiple time zones. Assist in customer migration services and manage technical challenges during transitions to ensure smooth progress. Work closely with Disaster Recovery Services to execute customer disaster recovery plans effectively. Adhere to ITSM change control procedures and maintain an efficient implementation schedule. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Over 10 years of professional experience in DB2 Systems Programming, with knowledge of IDAA and CA/IBM tools being a plus. Strong understanding of software management best practices and documentation. Experience with SMP/e and configuring DB2 in parallel Sysplex environments. Proven ability to develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices in software management. Expertise in establishing database management policies, including security and maintenance. Experience with security requests and the ability to identify potential risks. Ability to review, tune internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code effectively. Demonstrated responsiveness to support requests from multiple clients. Willingness to support multiple customers during after-hours on-call duties.
