Position Overview: Join us as a School Crossing Safety Officer, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of children as they cross at designated sites. Your dedication will not only safeguard our community's youth but also contribute to a safe and orderly traffic environment. Key Responsibilities: Guide children safely across street intersections, ensuring compliance with traffic rules. Record license plate numbers of vehicles ignoring traffic signals and report incidents to law enforcement. Monitor the area around school crosswalks for suspicious behavior and report any concerns. Address and report any uncooperative or abusive behavior from children. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, targeting no more than 2 excused absences per year. Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions to your field supervisor promptly. Provide exceptional customer service to promote a positive community image. Requirements: Independent and self-motivated with minimal supervision. Familiarity with local geography and knowledge of key community locations. Strong observational skills with the ability to report situations clearly. Quick and calm reaction to emergency scenarios. Emotional stability and good judgment in interactions, especially with children. Minimum age of 18 years. Able to perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Willingness to attend a mandatory School Crossing Guard training class. Required Equipment: As a School Crossing Safety Officer, you will utilize essential tools including a Stop Paddle, Reflective Vest, Signal Whistle, and may also require additional items such as a personal cellphone, rain gear, reflective gloves, traffic cones, and appropriate winter attire.
