Job Description

Work Location: Birmingham, AL Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview REQUIREMENTS: Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen. Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct inspections and provide detailed reports on construction projects at federal facilities, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications regarding workmanship, materials, installation, and methods. Perform inspections of welding quality and practices specifically relating to steel fabrication. Conduct coating inspections and tests of various coating systems and their application methods. Oversee structural bolting inspections and tests for various bolting methods and installations. Advise government personnel on necessary changes to contract plans and specifications throughout all construction phases. Monitor the contractor's quality system, conducting three-phase inspections to ensure project standards. Provide on-site surveillance at construction locations and assist owners with problem resolution. Review and manage change orders, modifications, RFIs, and submittals. Track and oversee contractor schedules. Ensure that quality assurance and safety plans are effectively followed by the contractor. Utilize the Resident Management System (RMS) for project oversight. Education and Experience: High School diploma with at least 5 years of experience in construction welding inspections and 2 years in coating and structural bolting inspections. AWS Certified Welding Inspector certified in accordance with AWS QC1, with a minimum of five years of experience in steel fabrication. Nondestructive testing (NDT) personnel must be qualified to ASNT standards. Coating inspection certification required (NACE Level I or higher or SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1 or higher) with a minimum of two years' experience in coating system inspection and testing. Experience in structural bolting inspections is required, meeting AASHTO G4.2 guidelines, with a minimum of two years' experience. Familiarity with the Three-Phase QC/Inspection process is essential. Experience with the EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual is preferred. Knowledge of the Resident Management System (RMS) is an advantage. Benefits: Competitive salary based on experience.
