Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Respiratory Therapist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Location: Grand Junction, CO - 81501 Shift Timing: Days Shift: 3x12 Hours, 36 Hours per Week Duration: 13 Weeks Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as prescribed by the physician. This role also serves as a resource to CRT staff and may participate in special clinical projects or assignments based on departmental needs. Roles and Responsibilities Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol. Obtain arterial blood gases and monitor patient responses to therapy. Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessments and clinical interpretation. Administer respiratory medications safely and in a timely manner, evaluating patient response and adjusting care according to protocol. Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment to ensure optimal patient care. Communicate patient status and treatment progress effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff. Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory care, health promotion, and self-care techniques. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental standards. Monitor and manage respiratory therapy supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs within the department. Identify and report safety concerns and contribute ideas for improving patient satisfaction and care processes. Serve as a mentor or resource to other respiratory care staff and promote professional development. Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative patient care discussions. Float to other departments as needed based on business requirements and competency level. Perform additional duties as assigned. Skills Required Skills Respiratory Therapy Patient Education Patient Care Life Support Care Planning Additional Skills Patient Care Delivery Critical Thinking Documentation Quality Improvement Ability to Follow Clinical Protocols Requirements Graduate of an NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program from an accredited institution. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Current Respiratory Therapy license in the state of practice. AHA - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
