About the Role: As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team that is integral to developing the secure compute layer of Confluent Cloud. This position is crucial for supporting our internal product teams and equipping our customers with vital components for secure code execution and data processing across major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. Your leadership will be essential in attracting and retaining a diverse customer base while driving product adoption and overall growth. You will have a significant role in shaping a multi-year roadmap and ensuring that all platform features meet the highest standards of quality, security, and reliability across global deployments. What You Will Do: Lead the strategic vision and development of the multi-year roadmap for the Secure Compute Platform. Provide hands-on technical leadership focusing on distributed systems, Kubernetes, and container-based runtimes to enhance security and scalability. Collaborate with Product, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure teams to set architectural standards and develop seamless solutions. Foster a culture of technical excellence and ownership within an inclusive team of 6-8 engineers. Exploit AI-driven tools to improve team productivity and operational efficiency. Oversee the execution of core platform features, ensuring they align with global customer requirements. Maintain rigorous operational standards for reliability and performance across numerous clusters. Encourage platform adoption and ensure that secure compute interfaces satisfy developers' needs. What You Will Bring: A minimum of 10 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a management role. Experience in designing resilient systems at scale using leading cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP). Expertise in building secure distributed systems, with a strong proficiency in Kubernetes and container technologies. Knowledge of API governance frameworks to ensure consistency and reliability. Exceptional communication skills to effectively influence peers and stakeholders. Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and mentor engineers while managing team performance. A successful track record of delivering features promptly, with a sense of urgency and strong prioritization capabilities. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
