Duties Help The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist is located administratively in Facilities Management, Facilities Operations (AFM-OPS). The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of system software, hardware maintenance, and long-term planning associated with the Building Automation System (BAS) network infrastructure. As a Supervisory Facilities Operations Specialist, you will: Be responsible for all aspects of system software, hardware maintenance, and long-term planning associated with the Building Automation System (BAS) network infrastructure. Provide technical expertise on the operation of Microsoft's network operating system, from both a user and administrator standpoint. Be responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing designs, plans, and specifications for complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic (controls) projects for BAS alteration and upgrade. Brief the IT steering committee on new systems and equipment to be employed in the modernization of computerized infrastructure, as it affects the BAS. briefs committee on changes in market trends and provides input on cutting-edge technologies to maximize BAS efficiency. Assist in the development of current and long-range budgets for obtaining BAS-related IT funds. Develop and prepare contract specifications, estimates, and computer aided design (CAD) drawings for complex designs involving repairs and improvements to the BAS. Act as the contracting officer's representative (COR) during the construction phase of assigned contracts and for service contracts. Basic Requirements: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. ORSpecialized Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Planning, coordinating and implementing automation projects, including estimating material and labor cost, for HVAC, lighting, security and other systems, for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations. Conducting surveillance and analysis activities over different building systems, evaluate performance, develop and implement control procedures to improve energy efficiency, environment comfort and system functionality. Managing building automation systems, supervising installation, operations and maintenance of components and software. Analyze system performance and implement necessary adjustments to improve functionality. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position does NOT have a positive education requirement.
