Job Description Document Controller - Hexagon SDx Location: Houston, TX (Westchase - EPC Office) Work Schedule: 5/40 Work Environment: On-site EPC office Position Summary The Document Controller will support a major capital project by managing, controlling, and maintaining engineering, vendor, and construction documentation within a Hexagon SDx (SmartPlant Foundation) environment. This role is embedded within the EPC office and works closely with engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, and external contractors to ensure document accuracy, traceability, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience working in Hexagon SDx or SmartPlant Foundation environments and can contribute immediately without the need for extensive system training. Key Responsibilities Manage the receipt, registration, distribution, and control of engineering, vendor, and construction documents within Hexagon SDx / SmartPlant Foundation Maintain accurate document registers, transmittals, revision control, and metadata in accordance with project procedures Perform QA/QC checks to ensure documentation complies with project, EPC, and regulatory requirements prior to issuance Coordinate document workflows between engineering disciplines, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams Support document lifecycle activities from engineering through construction, turnover, and handover Generate document status reports, overdue reports, and ad-hoc metrics to support project visibility and schedule adherence Ensure proper document filing, naming conventions, and version control are consistently applied Support audits, assurance activities, and document turnover packages as required Provide guidance to project team members and contractors on document control procedures and system usage Interface closely with project controls and quality teams to support accurate and timely project execution Qualifications Proven experience working within Hexagon SDx and/or SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) environments Strong understanding of EPC document control workflows and best practices High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-discipline EPC environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience Requirements Minimum 5+ years of Document Control experience supporting engineering, EPC, or major capital projects Hands-on experience managing documents in Hexagon SDx / SmartPlant Foundation is required Experience supporting engineering, vendor, and construction deliverables across multiple project phases Prior experience working in an EPC office environment strongly preferred Work Location & Environment Role will be based full-time in the EPC office located in the Westchase area of Houston Daily interaction with engineering, project controls, quality, and construction teams Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
