Internet Measurement Research Intern - Summer 2026

To manage this responsibility, we work closely with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to deploy Open Connect, our Content Delivery Network (CDN) that delivers 100% of Netflix's video traffic. The Role: We are seeking a research intern to dive into networking research within our global CDN. You will explore how we can optimize performance, resilience, and reliability. This role involves understanding the interaction between our infrastructure and the Internet, and how clients connect effectively to the CDN. Who Are You? Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, focusing on networking, Internet Measurement, or distributed systems, and expected to graduate in December 2026, Summer 2027, or later. You should plan to return to school for at least one semester following the internship. A strong desire to tackle real-world problems at scale. Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP). Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilities, with a grasp of statistical methods. Proficiency in software development and familiarity with best practices (version control, testing, code review, etc.). Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Bonus Points: Experience with CDN and content delivery architectures. Collaboration with cross-functional teams. Experience in cloud computing platforms and large-scale distributed systems. Contributions to open-source projects. Research publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences relevant to these topics.
