Position Overview The Data Governance and Compliance Executive will spearhead the development and implementation of the US Firm's data governance strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role requires a strategic thinker with outstanding communication skills, capable of instilling confidence in both internal and external stakeholders. Your Key Responsibilities Strategy Development: Formulate and implement the overall data governance strategy, risk, and compliance programs for the US Firm, including associated policies and procedures. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders across EY, including the US Management Committee, US General Counsel's Office, and other regional leaders. Compliance Leadership: Collaborate with the Data Protection Leader to oversee compliance with applicable data-related laws as per EY's Compliance Program Framework. Governance and Improvement: Continuously monitor compliance with data governance policies and identify opportunities to enhance data management efficiency through automation. Advisory Role: Provide guidance on best practices for data governance, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws. Policy Development: Oversee the creation and implementation of policies for data management tailored to the US market. Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changes to data-related laws and regulations. Main Point of Contact: Act as the primary liaison between the Firm and relevant data protection authorities. Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate data governance and compliance-related risks as part of the Compliance Program. Risk Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to devise and implement risk mitigation strategies ensuring legal compliance. Operational Oversight: Supervise US Firm activities related to data governance, risk, and compliance including incident response and trend analysis. Awareness and Education: Promote awareness of data privacy legislation and EY policies to staff. Monitoring: Review handling of personal and confidential data based on risk assessments. Privacy Impact Assessments: Manage and seek to enhance processes while safeguarding the Firm. Data Lifecycle Management: Support tracking data's lifecycle and associated compliance risks. AI Strategies: Work with stakeholders to leverage data for AI initiatives while managing governance and compliance risks. Qualifications Minimum of 15 years of related experience in data governance, risk, and compliance. At least 10 years of experience leading teams in the data governance space. Demonstrated ability to establish trust and influence senior leadership. Experience in a professional services environment is preferred. Ability to bridge high-level strategy with tactical execution. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degrees are a plus. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Ability to travel as required. Preferred Qualifications Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus. Advanced degree or a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
