As a Pre-Construction Project Lead for Global Engineering, Maintenance, & Sustainability, you will play a pivotal role in managing building industrial development projects, ranging from new constructions to renovations and expansions, from the initial site selection to the final contract execution. Your expertise will be crucial in fostering collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders to clearly define project scope, budget, and timelines, while ensuring the necessary permits are obtained efficiently. Your main responsibilities will encompass: Independently overseeing complex industrial builds from site selection through design completion and permitting. Working closely with real estate, design engineering, construction, and regulatory teams to secure resources and facilitate project delivery. Communicating effectively with stakeholders to convey technical information and manage expectations adeptly. Managing vendor procurement processes and ensuring service providers meet all project specifications. Conducting comprehensive cost estimations, tracking schedules, and proactively identifying potential roadblocks to promote seamless project transitions. Implementing safety standards and programs throughout all project phases, aligning with Amazon's commitment to safety. Creating detailed project status reports and keeping leadership informed, ensuring transparency at every stage of the project lifecycle. Each day will involve site management coordination, contractor oversight, contract negotiations, and adherence to Amazon’s sustainability principles in construction practices. You will be essential in navigating project challenges and removing barriers to achieve successful outcomes. Traveling up to 60% within your assigned region is expected, and candidates should either reside near or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from the office. Comprehensive relocation assistance may be available. A day in the life includes: Representing GEMS by ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Coordinating the development of design documents and managing construction changes with various consultants. Leading multiple projects of diverse sizes while maintaining open lines of communication with leadership to effectively address and resolve issues. Performing site validation and managing design documentation and checklists meticulously. Understanding zoning and building codes to ensure compliance during project execution. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in roles such as Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or Development Manager in commercial development and construction.
