As a Billing Specialist for our law firm, you will play a vital role in managing the billing process and arrangements for assigned attorney portfolios. This position offers an exciting opportunity to ensure accurate billing and contribute to the financial health of our firm. Key Responsibilities: Verify rates with rate analysts, review and implement outside counsel guidelines, monitor fee caps, tier discounts, and matter budgets; set up and monitor alerts; and communicate with the firm's Billing & Intake Committee regarding discounts, write-downs, and write-offs. Oversee the complete billing cycle from prebill to final bill; ensure billing attorneys receive accurate prebills on time and submit finalized bills/eBills in the correct format while adhering to attorney and client specifications; confirm submission of final bills to clients and proper posting in the accounting system. Collaborate with eBilling Coordinators for new client account setups with eBilling requirements; work with the Accounting Systems Administrator to update necessary fields based on client billing guidelines; electronically submit invoices, ensuring successful submission and troubleshooting issues; proactively follow up on acceptance and timely payment of invoices. Communicate with clients directly as necessary; effectively convey billing arrangements and provide requested information about special billing arrangements; respond promptly to all related inquiries. Address inquiries regarding accruals, audits, and payment reports; recommend solutions based on billing trends affecting realization; prepare ad hoc reports as needed. Maintain updated pre-bill statuses within the billing system for assigned portfolios. Monitor unapplied credit balances and propose resolutions when applicable; assist Accounts Receivable with accurate payment applications; keep partners informed on available unapplied and trust funds and apply funds when required. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience. Previous law firm experience in billing is required. Experience with Financial Management Systems software is essential. Proven ability to perform complex accounting analysis with advanced Excel and reporting skills. Benefits: The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $88,000.
