Position Summary: Job Title: Public Assistance Specialist - Intermediate level Employment Type: Full Time Duration: Temporary Compensation: $26-27/hour Location: Remote Benefits: Temporary positions do not include benefits except as mandated by law. Mission of Role: Join our team of knowledgeable, compassionate professionals working to support communities in their recovery from disasters. As a Public Assistance Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting citizens and local governments in navigating recovery initiatives after natural calamities. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical assistance and expertise to guide clients through recovery processes. Communicate effectively with local, state, and federal officials at all levels. Draft, review, and amend scopes of work as required. Apply knowledge of the Stafford Act, FEMA policies, and the Public Assistance Program & Policy Guide. Participate in exploratory calls, recovery scoping meetings, and site inspections, both virtually and in person. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable Public Assistance policies and protocols. Analyze project applications and documentation to ensure compliance with FEMA standards. Ensure timely delivery and quality of all assigned tasks. Use grant portal systems effectively to track client information. Work through all phases of the grant lifecycle. Qualifications: Minimum of 6 months experience with FEMA Public Assistance. Demonstrated knowledge of FEMA PA Categories A-E. Experience managing significant Disaster Recovery efforts. Active involvement in an Emergency Operations Center. Strong interpersonal, time management, and communication skills. Physical Demands: Mobility required during on-site client engagements. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. as needed. Working Environment: Remote or field deployment; may involve outdoor work in challenging weather conditions. On-site work may take place at EOCs, hospitals, debris sites, or local government facilities. Additional Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management is preferred, though experience may substitute for education. Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S. Background checks required upon offer of employment.
