Funding Source Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources or designee, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the coordination and execution of the daily functions of the department to serve the College community. This position offers a competitive starting salary of $50,000 - $55,000, along with a comprehensive college benefits package. Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Executive Director of Human Resources or designee. The Human Resources Generalist may supervise support staff and student workers. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the employment services and activities of the college. Services such as preparation of the Personnel Committee board packet, recruitment, new hire employee orientation, separation clearances and exit interviews, and other related services. 2. Conduct onboarding of newly hired employees and enter new hire paperwork into the HRIS system. 3. Facilitation of the recruitment of qualified staff through the gathering, examining and interpreting data about the job's tasks, collaborating with leadership to understand skills and competencies, and maintain an efficient and standardized system for the development of job descriptions. 4. Administrative functions associate with job postings, reviewing resumes, assist search committees and process employment offers. Communicate with candidates. 5. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. 6. Maintain the department's website working closely with Institutional Advancement and Information Technology to ensure timely updates. 7. Assist with leave administration in accordance with state and federal laws, while factoring in additional benefits pursuant to collective bargaining unit contracts and Board policy. 8. Coordinate the input, edit, audit, verification, and reporting of the HRIS, time and attendance system and other related systems ensuring quality and control of the data and the process. 9. Coordinate personnel activities, services and projects using techniques and methodology to assure that the office is recognized for providing timely, accurate and relevant services, information and/or reports to both employees and the college community. 10. Provide reports in accordance with Workplace Democracy Enhancement Act (WDEA) 11. Monitor the performance evaluation process ensuring that probationary and annual performance evaluations are completed on required personnel, tracking and reporting is completed. 12. Maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 13. Handle and/or manage sensitive information and, as such, strict confidentiality must be adhered to at all times. 14. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of and staff and student records. 15. Prepare and maintain routine, special and ancillary reports as required. 16. Ensure proper maintenance of employee files 17. Performs other related duties as required. Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. Experience in personnel administration, preferably in a college setting. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources laws, policies and procedures. 4. Working knowledge of computer software applications, preferably the Microsoft Office suite of applications. 5. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize assignments and to exercise good judgment at all times. 6. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 7. Strong organizational and analytical skills, and attention to detail. 8. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 9. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 10. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or related area. 2. Experience in personnel administration working as a human resource generalist or similar position, preferably in a college setting. 3. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Human Resources laws, policies and procedures, preferably at the community college level. 4. Experience working with a computerized human resources information system (HRIS), preferably in a college setting. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of computerized record maintenance and management, preferably the Banner system. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
