Overview The HR Specialist acts as a vital internal partner delivering comprehensive human resources solutions to align with our business strategies and core values. Your role will encompass essential functions such as recruiting, onboarding new hires, benefits enrollment, payroll management, advising on company policies, performance management, and enhancing our culture through employee engagement practices. This is a hybrid role based out of our Lakewood, NJ location; travel to Somerset, NJ may be required as needed. Applicants must reside within a commutable distance to Lakewood, NJ to be considered. Responsibilities Support adherence to HR policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to streamline the recruiting process and facilitate onboarding for both permanent and temporary staff. Act as the primary contact for staffing agencies regarding labor needs and contract terms. Provide coaching to management and employees on HR guidelines, employee engagement, performance improvement, conflict resolution, and teamwork. Address complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and other critical employment issues through fair investigations. Assist in developing and delivering training and development initiatives in partnership with Learning and Development. Coordinate performance management and assessment processes. Champion employee engagement, appreciation, and culture-oriented initiatives. Represent HR on various company committees (e.g., Environmental Sustainability, Safety, Quality). Ensure compliance with all company record-keeping requirements. Educate employees on benefit plans, addressing inquiries and issues effectively. Administer FMLA, non-FMLA, ADA, and reasonable accommodation processes. Manage the separation process and off-boarding procedures. Qualifications MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an HR generalist role. Familiarity with ERP, HRIS, ATS, LMS, and payroll systems. Proven record of providing high-quality service. Work authorization: must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Professional certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP. Experience managing multiple locations. Familiarity with staffing agency partnerships, leave management, benefits, payroll, ADA, and Workers' Compensation. Experience with ADP WorkforceNow, LaborSoft, iCIMS ATS, SharePoint. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and listening abilities. Effective relationship-building and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Hands-on approach to supporting business needs. Ability to create effective communication and training materials. Skilled in presenting information and responding to group inquiries. Competence in managing confidential information discreetly. Ability to coach and assess others. Capable of engaging, inspiring, and influencing others. Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices and regulations. Understanding of applicable employment laws. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 100% of job activities are conducted indoors. Exposure to noise and vibrations possible. Physical ability to reach, handle, and feel.
