Role Overview As a Healthcare Estimating Manager, you will lead bid processes for complex projects, overseeing all aspects of estimating and pricing from reviewing plans to negotiating with contractors and suppliers. Your expertise will be crucial in aligning with JE Dunn's strategic vision and values. Make informed decisions within defined authority while consulting with supervisors as needed. Career Advancement: Pathway to Senior Precon and Estimating Manager roles. Key Responsibilities Conduct quantity surveys of materials based on project plans. Analyze and summarize project specifications. Keep a detailed audit trail for quantity surveys across estimates. Facilitate vendor/subcontractor pricing and bid coordination. Distribute plans and specifications to involved vendors and subcontractors. Build collaborative relationships with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Gain experience in self-performing estimating and field operations through project support. Additional Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiations for multiple projects. Summarize material costs from vendor quotes. Document value creation efforts from development to inclusion in projects. Develop and oversee scopes of work across all trades, including pricing and bid solicitation. Apply knowledge of project scheduling to enhance estimation accuracy. Collaborate with operations for constructability and coordination reviews of project documents. Produce comprehensive deliverables at the conclusion of major estimates. Enhance project profitability through understanding of insurance and fee structures. Execute bid forms and participate in bid day activities with thorough reviews. Engage in feasibility studies on the life-cycle costs of building systems. Lead the analysis and storage of project cost history. Provide mentorship to team members, fostering growth and development. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Capable of conducting impactful presentations. Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Advanced ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Advanced skills in construction estimating software. Understanding of construction management methods and field operations. Proficient in performing quantity surveys and developing estimates. Familiarity with Lean processes and knowledge of MBE/WBE/SBA regulations. Ability to develop relationship-building and collaborative strategies. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience required. Preferred total of 8+ years in the construction industry. Working Environment Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds may be required. Willingness to travel overnight as needed for projects. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours to meet project demands. Normal office setting, with exposure to varied conditions.
