This is a remote position; however, the candidate must reside within 30 miles of one of the following locations: Boston, MA; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Dallas, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, WA; and Portland, ME. About the Team/Role Join our NAM Experiences team as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, where you will leverage your exceptional front-end skills and broad full-stack knowledge to create user-friendly and high-performance web applications. Your work will directly enhance the experience for large fleets and transportation companies by enabling them to effectively manage credit for their drivers and operators. You’ll develop robust user interfaces that will empower fleet managers to implement controls, analyze reports, and optimize daily processes. How You'll Make an Impact: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable web applications. Build and improve shared component libraries and design-system assets for multiple applications. Lead system designs and guide technical decisions, aligning efforts with other senior engineers. Implement automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing. Identify and address bottlenecks and technical debt to enhance scalability and stability. Advance automation frameworks that streamline testing, monitoring, scaling, and deployment processes. Collaborate with Product, Design, and UX teams to deliver top-notch user experiences. Perform code reviews, championing best engineering practices and maintaining high-quality standards. Troubleshoot complex production issues, analyze root causes, and document solutions to ensure sustained performance. Conduct thorough analyses of competing technologies to support informed decision-making. Create comprehensive documentation (design docs, run books, change management docs). Strategize for live-site support by designing effective monitoring systems, ensuring rapid incident resolution, and fostering continuous improvement. Drive cross-team projects as a single-threaded owner or tech lead, effectively unblocking team members to ensure progress. Gain practical experience with automation and AI-driven engineering solutions. Experience You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. 8-10 years of software engineering experience. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving skills. Expertise in creating complex web applications with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability. Proven experience with micro-frontends or module federation. Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks, preferably Angular or React. Strong knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3/SASS. Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful or GraphQL APIs. A solid grasp of web security principles, including authentication and data protection. Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a focus on user experience and maintainability. Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating a collaborative and empathetic mindset. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science or software engineering. 10 years of software engineering experience. Familiarity with backend technologies such as Java or Node.js. Experience with cloud-native environments including Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS/GCP/Azure. Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases like MySQL or MongoDB. Experience in building and scaling design systems, with emphasis on accessibility and performance optimization. The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary based on qualifications, skills, and competencies. Base pay is one factor of WEX's total compensation package, which includes eligibility for commissions for sales positions and potential bonuses for non-sales roles.
