While many roles at Coinbase support remote work, we emphasize in-person engagement, requiring participation in team and company-wide offsite gatherings throughout the year. We are currently seeking a Senior Offensive Security Engineer within our Application Security team. The role involves conducting penetration testing and safeguarding the digital security of physical spaces. The ideal candidate will have a robust technical background, possess an active, current, or recently expired security clearance, and have experience collaborating with executives at large organizations. Your Responsibilities: Evaluate the digital security of physical environments such as labs and offices, specializing in IOT/IOT automation and consumer networking devices. Perform thorough penetration tests on networked devices, including hardware, firmware, and integration points. Identify vulnerabilities within ecosystems and provide actionable recommendations for security improvements. Work alongside security and development teams to incorporate security best practices throughout the device lifecycle. Keep up-to-date with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices pertaining to physical space security. Effectively present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership. Qualifications: Possess an active, current, or recently expired security clearance. Have at least 2 years of experience collaborating with C-Suite executives at S&P 500 companies. Demonstrate proficiency in penetration testing across a wide range of threat actors, from common criminals to advanced persistent threats (APTs) and nation-state actors. Showcase expertise in assessing the digital security of physical spaces, inclusive of building management systems (BMS), physical access control systems (PACS), IoT/home automation devices, wireless protocols (LoRaWAN, Bluetooth, Zigbee), and networked security infrastructures (such as IP cameras and alarms). Extensive experience engaging with executives within large, complex organizations. Strong foundation in networking protocols, security frameworks, and best practices within physical security. Experience using various penetration testing tools and methodologies. Exceptional communication and report-writing skills. Ability to travel occasionally based on business requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Involvement in computer security competitions (CTFs), bug bounty programs, and open source security research. Experience in Web3 security, network security, and/or cloud security. Background in developing security tools to support penetration testing and AI penetration activities. Experience in penetration testing AI systems and large language models (LLMs). Compensation Transparency: The target annual base salary for this role can range from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on your work location.
