About the Role We are looking for a talented Senior Medical Epidemiologist Consultant to join our dynamic team on a part-time basis. In this essential role, you will be integral in overseeing surveillance, research, and outbreak preparedness and response initiatives for our federal government client. Your expertise will greatly enhance the execution of epidemiologic studies, manage pertinent data, and coordinate statistical and programming activities. This position is fully remote, though candidates residing in Atlanta, GA, are highly preferred. Responsibilities Play a key role in the technical and scientific planning, execution, and analysis of medical components within research studies led by expert teams. Innovate new hypotheses and strategies to efficiently gather and analyze data concerning medical and health risks associated with various public health programs. Design and assess comprehensive long-term scientific initiatives tackling critical medical challenges. Promote evidence-based policies and public health initiatives while fostering lasting collaborations with Chief Information Officers, agencies, and institutions on significant medical issues. Provide leadership agency-wide for medical, epidemiological, and scientific initiatives aimed at addressing public health concerns. Oversee integrated planning, execution, and evaluation of public health surveillance and research programs. Deliver medical and epidemiological expertise for the design and execution of complex analytic studies within specific medical and public health domains. Design and implement research programs and initiatives that align with agency objectives, utilizing insights from the broader scientific and medical communities. Advise on research methodologies and provide in-depth consultation on medical and epidemiological components of complex scientific studies and evaluations. Respond to public health emergencies by offering consultation and epidemiological support to state and local health departments. Requirements Required Experience and Skills A minimum of 3 years as a clinician or medical officer within the United States Public Health Service, providing patient care. At least 3 years of experience conducting epidemiologic research. Minimum of 3 years in program management. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional organizational and communication skills. Experience with federal government agencies or public health emergency response is a plus. Ability to obtain government security clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future employer sponsorship. Education and Training A Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution is required; additional education (MPH, Ph.D.) in Public Health or Epidemiology is advantageous. Physical Requirements Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
