JOB SUMMARY: Join our dynamic survey & mapping division at CERM as a Surveying Division Leader! In this key leadership role, you will oversee a talented team dedicated to producing accurate surveying and mapping drawings and data for a variety of engaging projects. Your leadership will ensure that these projects—from municipal enhancements to private commercial developments—are delivered with precision and within deadlines, all while boosting client satisfaction. Your expertise will play a critical role in optimizing our financial and human resources, nurturing business growth, and offering essential administrative support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Lead and manage all facets of land surveying projects, ensuring utmost accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. Quickly respond to client and job site queries to cultivate strong professional relationships. Perform necessary technical surveying tasks, including distance measurements, land record investigations, boundary identification, data verification, and creation of maps and legal descriptions. Implement an efficient data compilation system for the survey & mapping division. Effectively carry out construction staking and topographic surveys. Develop as-built drawings that align with project specifications and tolerances while maintaining comprehensive survey records, GPS data, and CAD files. Conduct field surveys using cutting-edge equipment, including total stations and GPS technology. Produce precise maps, diagrams, and detailed reports of survey findings. Utilize drone and survey data for generating monthly quantity reports. Resolve discrepancies in survey results to ensure project integrity. Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, construction teams, and planners to provide vital surveying information for successful project execution. Show proficiency in Civil 3D, particularly in surface modeling. Accurately interpret engineering plans and construction documents. Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and codes. Stay abreast of the latest surveying technologies and industry advancements. Balance fieldwork with office responsibilities. Supervise the creation of project deliverables and operational documentation. Ensure timely client submission of project deliverables. Manage all aspects of project management, including: Budget management: Monitor financials, assist with invoicing, and ensure proper project accounting. Business Development: Build strong client relationships, lead marketing initiatives, prepare project proposals, explore new opportunities, and attend relevant meetings. Staff Management: Oversee scheduling, support team to meet client expectations, and provide coaching for professional development. Project Execution: Direct project planning, engage stakeholders, manage workloads, and communicate projected timelines effectively. Quality Assurance/Risk Management: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, communicate quality assurance plans, report risks to senior management, and establish quality control processes. Estimate project costs based on required resources and scopes. Other responsibilities as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of state and local surveying laws and standards, with the ability to integrate project-specific requirements into workflows and deliverables. Experience with transportation projects, encompassing right-of-way, parcel and easement resolutions, and topographic database development; skilled in infrastructure inventory and assessment projects, field data gathering, and GIS integration; proficient in standard civil/site surveys like boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys. Familiarity with software such as OpenRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and standard office applications. Prior experience with state Department of Transportation projects is preferred. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Registered Land Surveyor with the capacity to obtain licenses in multiple states. At least 10 years of surveying experience, including a minimum of 5 years as a Registered Land Surveyor. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Registered Land Surveyor in multiple states preferred.
