Role Overview We are seeking applications for the Lead Data Quality Specialist role within our Real-World Data (RWD) organization. This vital position emphasizes ensuring exceptional data quality across RWD assets, data pipelines, and client deliverables. In this role, you will act as an expert in healthcare data quality, leading comprehensive assessments, creating scalable quality controls, and collaborating with engineering, product, delivery, and client-facing teams. Your efforts will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of Norstella's RWD offerings while enhancing our data quality framework. Key Responsibilities Data Quality Leadership & Execution: Lead detailed data quality assessments across RWD pipelines, source data, harmonized datasets, and client outputs. Serve as the go-to resource for complex data quality issues impacting clients or downstream teams. Conduct thorough investigations into data discrepancies utilizing SQL, dashboards, and pipeline logs to identify root causes. Translate findings into actionable remediation plans and preventive strategies. Proactive Quality Design & Improvement: Design and implement proactive data quality checks that enhance issue detection during data ingestion, harmonization, and delivery. Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to embed quality controls into automated workflows. Help establish data quality metrics, thresholds, and KPIs to fortify the RWD ecosystem. Identify systemic quality risks and suggest improvements to processes or architecture. Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, product, and delivery teams to effectively resolve quality issues. Engage with external data vendors to validate source data and resolve logic updates as needed. Coordinate with internal teams regarding data modifications and enhancements. Provide insights and guidance to client-facing teams on data inquiries, limitations, and interpretations. Communication & Documentation: Effectively communicate data quality findings, risks, and implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Maintain complete documentation of investigations, analyses, and resolutions. Contribute to SOPs, data dictionaries, and knowledge bases related to data quality practices. Draft internal data release documents outlining changes in data products. Thought Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory frameworks related to healthcare data quality. Mentor junior data quality team members and champion consistent quality standards throughout the organization. Take on additional responsibilities as necessary. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in data quality, analytics, or data engineering roles, ideally within healthcare or life sciences. Strong hands-on experience with large, complex healthcare datasets. Comprehensive knowledge of real-world data sources, including claims, EMR/EHR, and laboratory data. Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with modern data pipelines and warehouses. Demonstrated ability to manage investigations independently from initiation to resolution. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of healthcare data standards, privacy, and compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA). Experience in data analysis and pipeline tools such as Python, R, Airflow, or similar technologies. Experience with cloud data warehouse environments like Amazon Redshift or DBM. Previous experience in influencing or designing scalable data quality frameworks, metrics, or controls. Salary offers are determined by various factors including skills, experience, education, and market conditions.
