The Big Data Service team is on a mission to provide a managed, cloud-native Big Data Service focused on extensive data processing and analytics of unstructured data within data lakes. Our work includes seamless integration with OCI's robust infrastructure and other pertinent cloud-native services. Our approach emphasizes cloud-native maintenance practices, ensuring high availability even during unexpected disruptions or scheduled downtimes. Responsibilities Engage in the development and enhancement of distributed, data-intensive systems, often contributing to open-source projects. Take ownership of critical components of our cloud service and influence its direction. Develop, integrate, and operationalize both open-source and proprietary data ecosystem components for Oracle's cloud offerings. Actively participate in the Apache open-source community while working on related components. Represent Oracle at conferences, meetups, or through written publications. Collaborate with and support users of our cloud services. Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for various applications, tools, and networks. Desired Skills and Experience Strong grasp of distributed resilient software development and deployment methods. Proven experience in building or contributing to distributed data-intensive systems. Experience in delivering and maintaining large-scale, highly available distributed systems. Familiarity with managing larger codebases. Experience with open-source software within the Big Data ecosystem. Background in an organization with a solid operational/dev-ops culture. Proficient in Java and Python, with a focus on performance tuning and optimization. Excellent software engineering skills, including writing clean, testable, and maintainable code, as well as comprehensive documentation. Deep knowledge of Java and JVM mechanics. Interest in sharing your work through speaking engagements and articles. BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging capabilities. Salary Range: The hiring range is $79,200 to $178,100 annually, with eligibility for bonus and equity.
