Summary: Join our innovative team as a Wireless Systems Development Engineer within the VR HW Wireless Technology group at Reality Labs. In this exciting role, you will work at the forefront of wireless technology for VR products, bringing together your expertise to help shape the future of virtual reality. You will collaborate with top-tier talent across various teams and partner with external vendors to take wireless designs from initial concept to final product. Responsibilities: Assess and analyze wireless subsystem requirements—including RF, PHY, MAC, and application-level performance—to align with product specifications and user scenarios. Design and define the architecture, algorithms, protocols, and procedures for wireless systems that meet demanding functional, quality, and performance metrics. Set clear performance expectations for wireless subsystems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the overall product performance. Engage with wireless chipset vendors to ensure compliance with system requirements and to outline technology roadmaps for long-term success. Research and analyze emerging technologies and competitor solutions, developing innovative algorithms and protocols to tackle complex challenges for future VR products. Investigate and resolve system performance issues, including chipset and firmware defects, to enhance overall system performance throughout the product lifecycle. Understand coex requirements for radio communications (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) and define strategies that optimize user experiences across different wireless technologies. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in wireless system engineering, particularly in consumer electronics development. Deep knowledge of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies. Proven experience in designing, modeling, and testing wireless features for consumer electronics. Expertise in system performance debugging and strong analytical problem-solving skills. Experience in leading technical projects across diverse teams. Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in wireless system engineering. Hands-on experience with end-to-end wireless system simulation and lab testing. Strong collaboration experience across wide cross-functional teams. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Matlab, Python, or C/C++. Extensive understanding of cellular technologies. Familiarity with industry standards for Cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
