Job Description DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking a dedicated Rail Maintenance Technician with solid mechanical skills and a strong commitment to safety. In this role, you will apply herbicides at various railroad locations while ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of trucks and equipment. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise and manage assigned jobs/contracts efficiently. Expertly apply herbicides for effective weed, grass, and brush control. Handle daily routing and scheduling tasks. Mix chemicals according to strict safety standards daily. Conduct thorough inspections and manage maintenance and repairs of trucks and spray systems. Accurately calibrate all spray equipment. Ensure strict adherence to established safety protocols. Maintain thorough daily and weekly records. Serve as the primary contact for customer communications. Address customer and public inquiries professionally. Immediately report any potential liabilities. Demonstrate a strong understanding of various weed, grass, and brush species. Possess in-depth knowledge of chemical applications and safety requirements. Understand application methods, calibration, and spray patterns. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Must be 21 years or older. A valid state driver's license with a minimum of 5 years of clean driving history. Willingness to travel for up to 4-6 weeks at a time (hotel expenses covered by DCS). Must pass a pre-employment drug test, DOT physical, and background check to work on railroad property. Commercial Pesticide Applicator License is preferred. Standard work schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, with shifts ranging from 10 to 12 hours. Weekend or night work may be required occasionally. Travel to offices for maintenance during breaks may be necessary. Work hours may vary based on weather and workload. Spraying is a seasonal task aligned with the regional office schedule. Adherence to the company's drug and alcohol policy is mandatory. Training: DeAngelo Contracting Services provides paid training to support employees' success in their roles, covering: Identification of various weeds, grasses, and brush species. Understanding chemical controls for specific plant species. Safe operation of application equipment. Field application methods. Proper maintenance of equipment.
