Job Description The Lead Field Service Engineer plays a vital role as a technical expert, spearheading advanced commissioning, integration, and mentorship within our Professional Field Services team. As a subject matter expert in refrigeration, CO2 systems, HVAC controls, and complex system architectures, you will lead on-site projects, coach fellow engineers, and represent our company with esteemed clients during large-scale implementations. This role involves significant fieldwork and requires extensive overnight travel. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A LEAD FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER WILL INCLUDE: Performing expert-level commissioning and optimization of intricate refrigeration and building automation systems. Developing control programs and logic sequences based on meticulous specifications. Providing advanced troubleshooting support for control systems, refrigeration racks, HVAC, and BMS integrations. Leading on-site teams, coordinating contractor efforts, and ensuring adherence to design specifications. Executing and overseeing new store commissioning and remodeling projects. Identifying and qualifying contractors to assist in commissioning services. Mentoring and training junior engineers to elevate team skills. Acting as the primary technical contact for significant clients and large commissioning projects. Maintaining expert knowledge of our control systems and competitor systems (Danfoss, Carel, Novar, Honeywell, etc.). Documenting and effectively communicating findings to project and leadership teams. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: 7+ years of experience in refrigeration controls, field commissioning, or system integration. In-depth understanding of refrigeration system design, pressure/temperature relationships, and CO2 system controls. Proficient in controller programming and network integration. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience within field environments. Exceptional communication and organizational skills, particularly with customers. Competent with technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email. Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects and provide strategic insights. Willingness to travel up to 85-90% of the time. Legal work authorization in the United States (sponsorship is not available for this role). Remote Work Arrangement: This is a fully remote position. Although you will work from home, you may need to travel to a Copeland site regularly to collaborate with your team or customers as required. Our compensation philosophy is transparent: we offer a competitive base salary aligned with local market rates, alongside performance rewards during our annual review process. For your reference, the salary range for this role is $100,000-$120,000 annually, dependent on skills, talent, capabilities, and experience. Working Conditions: This position involves frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and electrical hazards.
