In this role, you'll be the university's eyes and ears in the field, overseeing construction progress, monitoring quality, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and helping deliver projects that serve students, faculty, and the Auburn community for decades to come.You'll collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, architects, and engineers to keep projects on track and aligned with Auburn's standards. Assists with coordinating with specialty inspection groups, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and the University Engineer for the inspection and monitoring of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety work. Assists with providing written documentation of inspections and observations, and implement required reporting documentation as per construction documents and AU Design Standards. Maintain a consistent on-site presence, monitor contractor progress, and assist in solving challenges and overcoming obstacles. Assists with reviewing and inspecting building exterior and interior for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Assists with advising on project completeness for progress payments and schedules, and report unforeseen field conditions, omissions, and design deficiencies to leadership. Attend pre-construction meetings, and pre-installation meetings ensuring contractors complete their contractual obligations and coordinating required construction inspections. Assist in developing standardized construction inspection checklists and improving constructability review processes, AU Design Standards, and future construction projects. Support the implementation of building envelope and building systems commissioning processes, ensuring all testing, documentation, and final commissioning reports are completed. Assists in participating in the development and implementation of energy-efficient technology and other emerging building technology systems, as well as the implementation of LEED as applicable. Level II: Performs advanced level construction administration and inspection tasks for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, campus standards, and construction documents. Coordinates with specialty inspection groups, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and the University Engineer for the inspection and monitoring of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety work. Provides detailed written documentation of inspections and observations, and implement required reporting documentation as per construction documents and AU Design Standards. Maintains a consistent on-site presence, monitor contractor progress, and provides input in solving complex challenges and overcoming obstacles. Proficiently reviews and inspects building exterior and interior for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Provides proficient advice on project completeness for progress payments and schedules, and report unforeseen field conditions, omissions, and design deficiencies. Lead in pre-construction meetings, ensuring contractors complete their contractual obligations and coordinating required construction inspections. Develop and refine standardized construction inspection checklists and improving constructability review processes, AU Design Standards, and future construction projects. Oversee the implementation of building envelope and building systems commissioning processes, ensuring all testing, documentation, and final commissioning reports are completed. Actively participate in the development and implementation of energy-efficient technology and other emerging building technology systems, as well as the implementation of LEED as applicable. Level IV: Performs expert level construction administration and inspection tasks for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, campus standards, and construction documents. Serves as subject matter expert in coordinating specialty inspection groups, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and the University Engineer for the inspection and monitoring of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety work. Develop and implement advanced inspection documentation and reporting procedures per construction documents and AU Design Standards. Provides strategic oversight of on-site monitoring, proactively identifying and resolving critical issues. Serves as an expert resource for ADA compliance inspections. Provides expert consultation on project progress, risk mitigation, and resolution of complex design deficiencies. Lead and facilitate complex pre-construction meetings and provide mentorship to junior inspectors. Drive the development and implementation of innovative inspection practices and standards. Lead the commissioning process for advanced building systems. Champion the adoption of cutting-edge building technologies and sustainable practices. Level V Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all construction inspection activities, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance. Establish and maintain key relationships with regulatory agencies and industry partners. Develop and implement organizational inspection policies and procedures. Provide expert consultation on complex construction disputes and litigation. Serve as a recognized industry expert in ADA compliance and accessibility. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in construction inspection practices. Lead the development and implementation of advanced commissioning strategies for cutting-edge building systems.
