Role: Footwear Materials Designer Location: Beaverton OR (Onsite PHK (WHQ) - not open to relocation, must be able to start ASAP) 9+ Months Contract Parental leave for a Footwear Materials Designer for the Core Studio Footwear Materials Design Expression team. They will own Core Running footwear material design. MUST include Portfolios: understanding design process from research, trend analysis, and that translated into a product execution, running performance footwear Must Haves: 5+ YOE of Materials Design in core footwear - running specifics, covers entire shoe line, material updates Solid footwear material knowledge - engineered meshes High taste level Nice to Haves: Understanding of running consumer performance wear Narrative story telling, expression Expert in Adobe products Expert Designer - P5 Purpose Expert Material Designer Creative agility Entry into creative design leadership Deliver materials vision & execute seasonal projects, aligned to creative direction & project briefs Accountabilities Create/set design direction and material toolbox for silo or product collection within a dimension May manage team inclusive of setting team and individual goals, development, performance management, recognition and rewards Active and proficient participant in the creative process and cross-functional communication Communicate and present design concepts to internal and external audiences. Clearly communicate changes to ensure timely completion of projects Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally with key partners May provide mentorship across design Key Partners Athletes Design Triad Manufacturing Material Development Mentor Operations Product Merch Sustainability Tech Development Expert Designer - P5 Education BA/BFA/MA/MFA preferred Associate degree preferred Experience Preferred design experience: 8+ years Creative experience (consumer/segment/dimensions) Knowledge of creative culture Functional Skills Digital design acumen (design-based software needed: Creative Suite) Preferred knowledge and experience with advanced digital tools/3D skills Master of make and manufacturing Master presentation & communication skills Master design skills, brief to presentation to manufacturing Master creative process Master business context Master understanding of insights Ability to design advanced material concepts; high technical skillset including engineering and Flyknit constructions Brings new sustainable methods into product and production
