Must-Have: - Experience with telemetry, managing ports, central line care, PICC line management, and care of ventilated patients. - Ability to manage and titrate vasoactive drips. - Familiarity with dysrhythmia interpretation and management. - Experience with peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, blood product administration, and isolation precautions. - Comfortable working with team nursing and delegating tasks to LPNs. Description: This position is for an ED HOLD unit, which is not a traditional PCU unit. The RN will care for medical-surgical and PCU type patients in a boarding area. Patients are retained in the emergency department until discharged or transferred to an inpatient unit. Patients will be stable and will be moved out if they become unstable. This is a 4-bed unit, but the patient ratios may fluctuate based on unit needs and can increase up to 8-10 beds. Staffing adjustments may be made according to patient acuity. The RN should be familiar with team nursing dynamics, collaborating with LPNs when necessary. There is an expectation of high patient admissions and discharges, with the potential for rapid turnover. RNs may be floated to inpatient PCU units when necessary. Patients typically present with medical-surgical and PCU level needs. The RN needs to function well in a high-paced environment with fluctuating patient ratios.
