Technologists will assist the radiologists on procedures as needed and supervise student MRI Technologists. They will encourage and maintain good customer relations. Responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures utilizing age-appropriate care. Obtain correct written orders for procedures and efficiently utilize time to meet patient care assignments. Assist in the clinical education of student technologists. Utilize imaging equipment efficiently while minimizing repeat examinations and focusing on cost containment. Instruct and prepare patients regarding imaging procedures and assist in obtaining informed consent as needed. Ensure patients understand procedures and communicate with family members regarding discharge instructions. Respond actively and sensitively to the needs of internal and external customers. Ensure correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history are entered into the computer system. Communicate effectively with Radiologists regarding procedures in both verbal and written situations and present a positive and professional demeanor. Adhere to hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures. Practice good radiation protection and follow established guidelines. Complete annual mandatory in-services and maintain current licensure requirements. Support department goals and hold sensitive information in confidence. Assist other members of the Imaging Team and help maintain records, reports, and files. Demonstrate flexibility and accountability in job duties and take initiative towards improving departmental operations. Requires a mature individual who projects a professional appearance and maintains confidentiality of work-related information. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients is required. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs. is expected. Frequent use of hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands/arms are necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively and have corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to a healthcare environment may include blood, body fluids, or tissue and potential exposure to infectious materials. Requires work under stressful conditions and may need to work weekends or holidays based on departmental needs. Fluency in English is required.
