An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room care in Palisade, Colorado. This contract position offers the chance to provide exceptional surgical patient care within a community hospital setting, collaborating closely with healthcare team members for optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive perioperative patient care. • Assess patient needs pre-, intra-, and post-surgery while accurately documenting all interventions. • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. • Facilitate patient education throughout the surgical process. • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment; manage inventory control. • Uphold sterile techniques and assist with surgical procedures and related equipment maintenance. • Safely administer medications, IV therapies, and diagnostic measures; verify informed consents prior to sedation. • Support orientation of new staff and engage in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives. • Comply with nursing practice standards and institutional policies; maintain patient confidentiality. • Respond promptly and effectively during emergencies, including crash cart maintenance and emergency protocols. • Supervise nursing activities and personnel within the assigned surgical area. • Correctly label and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution required; Bachelor's degree preferred. • Minimum of one year surgical nursing experience or equivalent education and experience. • Current active Colorado RN License. • Certification in BLS required; ACLS and PALS must be obtained within six months of hire. • CNOR certification and AORN membership preferred.
