CLS Core Values: Impact, Integrity, Community, Equity, and Collaboration About the Role The Member Engagement Specialist supports member engagement, retention, and renewals across the California Life Sciences community. This role focuses on proactive outreach to member companies to help ensure timely renewals, resolve outstanding invoices, and promote participation in CLS programs and benefits. This position is highly execution-focused and requires consistent communication with member organizations through phone, email, and LinkedIn. The Specialist works closely with the Membership, Business Development, and Accounting teams to support member relationships and maintain a healthy renewal pipeline. The role also helps promote CLS cost-savings programs, including the VWR (Avantor) lab supply agreement, and assists members in understanding how to maximize the value of their CLS membership. Key ResponsibilitiesMember Engagement & Outreach • Conduct regular outreach to assigned member companies via phone, email, and LinkedIn to maintain engagement and awareness of CLS programs and benefits • Serve as a point of contact for member inquiries related to renewals, invoices, and engagement opportunities • Promote participation in CLS events, programs, and cost-savings initiatives • Build relationships with stakeholders across member organizations including procurement, lab operations, facilities, finance, and leadership teams Renewals & Member Retention • Support the membership renewal process by proactively contacting members ahead of renewal deadlines • Follow up with members regarding outstanding invoices to support timely payment and continued membership access • Maintain an organized renewal pipeline and consistent outreach to support member retention • Coordinate with Membership and Accounting teams to address invoicing questions or issues Program Engagement • Promote participation in CLS cost-savings programs among member companies • Conduct outreach to eligible members to encourage program enrollment and utilization • Support onboarding of participating companies and assist with confirming program eligibility and contract understanding • Share member feedback and insights with internal teams and partners to support program effectiveness Systems & Reporting • Maintain accurate records of outreach, renewals, and member engagement activities in Salesforce • Track outreach activity and renewal progress using established reports and dashboards • Support data accuracy related to membership records and engagement activity Qualifications & ExperienceRequired • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered • 1-3 years of experience in inside sales, customer success, account coordination, or customer service, preferably in a B2B environment • Strong relationship-building and communication skills • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-ups • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a goal-oriented environment • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems preferred • Demonstrated alignment with CLS core values: Impact, Integrity, Community, Equity, and Collaboration • Ability to support CLS events primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area. Travel Up to 10% Travel occasional evening support for CLS events in the San Francisco Bay Area may be required. Preferred • Background in life sciences, healthcare, or a related industry • Experience working in a membership organization, association, or mission-driven organization Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, internal equity, and organizational budget.
