Position Type: Administration/Principal Date Posted: 3/6/2026 Location: Lago Vista Middle School District: Lago Vista ISD Primary Purpose: The Middle School Principal serves as the instructional leader and chief culture builder of the campus, fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement for both students and staff. High-quality instruction is ensured through systems that use student performance data to guide teaching and drive measurable growth. Coaching and professional learning are provided to strengthen instructional practices and support teacher development. Clear and consistent expectations for student achievement, character, and behavior are established and maintained, creating a safe, respectful, and academically focused learning environment. The principal maintains a visible presence on campus and actively communicates with students, staff, and families to build strong relationships and promote student success. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's degree in educational administration Texas Principal Certificate or other appropriate Texas administrative certification T-TESS certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Deep understanding of effective instructional practices and curriculum implementation Ability to analyze and use student performance data to improve instruction and student outcomes Experience coaching and developing teachers through observation and feedback Ability to build systems that support student growth and campus accountability goals Ability to develop strong student culture and discipline systems Ability to manage personnel, budgets, and campus operations Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three years experience as a classroom teacher Three years experience in instructional leadership/assistant principal role Principal experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Leadership Serve as the primary instructional leader of the campus, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom Lead the implementation of district curriculum and instructional practices aligned to state standards Develop campus systems for collaborative planning, data analysis, instructional improvement, and targeted interventions Conduct regular classroom observations and provide actionable feedback to strengthen instructional practice Provide coaching and professional development that improves teaching effectiveness Establish clear expectations for effective instruction, student engagement, and classroom management Data-Driven School Improvement Build a common vision for school improvement with staff that aligns with district goals and student needs Lead the development and implementation of the campus improvement plan focused on student growth and achievement Use student performance data and accountability indicators to guide campus decision-making Establish measurable campus performance goals and monitor progress throughout the school year Lead campus efforts to improve student achievement and accountability outcomes through strong instructional practices and targeted interventions Personnel Leadership and Development Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality teachers and staff committed to student success Establish clear expectations for staff performance related to instruction, professionalism, and student outcomes Observe and evaluate employee performance and provide actionable feedback for improvement Build a collaborative culture that promotes shared leadership, professional learning, and collective responsibility for student success Serve as the campus leader in building and sustaining a positive, student-centered school culture Student Culture and Discipline Serve as the campus behavior coordinator in accordance with state laws and district policy Establish and maintain clear, consistent expectations for student achievement, character, and behavior that support a positive school culture and protect instructional time Monitor discipline data and implement proactive strategies that strengthen campus culture and maximize instructional time Partner with families and staff to support positive student behavior and student success Campus Operations Ensure compliance with district policies and local, state, and federal regulations Develop and manage the campus budget in alignment with instructional priorities and student needs Oversee campus facilities and operations to ensure a safe and effective learning environment Supervise extracurricular and campus activities School and Community Relations Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community members Communicate campus goals and progress toward improvement with stakeholders Encourage parent and community engagement in the life of the school Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible leadership at all times Serve as a positive role model for students and staff Continue professional growth aligned to leadership responsibilities Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring or termination of staff assigned to the campus including assistant principals, teachers, counselors, librarians, instructional aides, clerical staff, and custodians. Salary & Benefits To be determined by breadth of experience and the LVISD Compensation Plan.
