Class A CDL Driver Rutland, VT Pay : $25.00 - $28.00 per hour 26-02288 Job Summary The Class A Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials, including pipe, plastic pipe, valves, and related products, to customer locations within assigned routes. This role involves primarily driving tractor-trailers or trucks with trailers, with occasional assistance in loading and unloading materials. The driver ensures timely deliveries, maintains accurate delivery documentation, and adheres to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards. The position requires reliability, professionalism, and the ability to operate both vehicles and warehouse equipment such as sit-down forklifts. Job Responsibilities Deliver materials according to the schedule provided by the supervisor. Validate directions and plan delivery routes efficiently. Load or assist in loading and unloading materials as needed. Ensure all materials are properly secured and within legal weight limits. Provide delivery tickets to customers and obtain required signatures. Pick up customer returns and verify product matches requests for credit. Pick up local purchase orders and secure/return packing lists. Verify all material has been unloaded and placed at the correct delivery site. Review delivered orders with the supervisor to ensure accuracy and completeness. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Refuel vehicles as necessary and report any vehicle problems, accidents, moving violations, or defects to the supervisor. Comply with all DOT standards and regulations. Represent the company professionally while providing quality customer service. Assist in warehouse operations as needed. Follow company policies, rules, and safety procedures at all times. Support corporate programs, initiatives, and goals. Work overtime when required, particularly during peak business periods. Job Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid Commercial Driver's License Class A with required state-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate and proof of certification. Minimum of one year of experience operating the class of commercial vehicle assigned. Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with attention to safety and accuracy. Smartphone proficiency for navigation and communication. Experience operating a sit-down forklift. Ability to safely load, secure, and transport materials. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to comply with all Department of Transportation regulations and safety standards. Work Experience At least one year of experience driving commercial vehicles similar to those assigned (tractor-trailer, truck with trailer). Experience with loading, securing, and delivering materials preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to drive up to 80% of the workday and perform loading/unloading activities for the remaining 20%.
