Shared Services Specialist The UW School of Nursing's mission is to advance nursing science and practice through generating knowledge and educating future leaders to address health for all. The School's Human Resources & Payroll Services team (HRPS) plays an important role in helping fulfill that mission by ensuring that the HR and payroll needs of faculty, staff, and student employees are accurately and efficiently met. This allows the employee to focus more fully on their own unique contributions to the School's mission. We invite applications for two Shared Services Specialist to join the HRPS team. Reporting to the Workday & Payroll Operations Manager, you will draw upon analytical skills to review, monitor, and complete HR and payroll transactions on behalf of the School's academic and administrative units. You will use effective communication skills to update customers and work with others to resolve issues. You will leverage collaboration and problem-solving skills to partner with your colleagues in improving processes and service. The successful candidate will have the experience or demonstrated potential to successfully fulfill the following job responsibilities: Workday Processing (75%) Submit and track to completion Workday transactions as requested by School of Nursing academic and administrative units Support timely and accurate processing of cyclical events including, but not limited to, time and absence reporting, reappointments, sabbatical leaves, and summer hiatus Collaborate with HR Operations team to support timely and accurate recruitment, hiring, and promotion of School of Nursing candidates Training and Compliance (15%) Provide training and guidance on customer-initiated Workday processes including time and absence reporting Work with Manager of Workday & Payroll Operations to correct data and transactions as appropriate including over/underpayments Actively participate in appropriate policy, business process, and customer service training, including Workday training sessions, in order to maintain and expand current expertise and to build expertise in new systems Maintain high compliance standards while also meeting turn-around goals Provide guidance to School of Nursing's academic/administrative unit leaders related to hiring and payroll policies/procedures, ensuring compliance with UW, State, and federal best practices, as well as alignment with collective bargaining agreements Communication & Process Improvement (10%) Collaborate with team members to evaluate, develop, and institute effective SoN HRPS processes and policies that continually reinforce SoN's mission, values, and strategic priorities Maintain positive and productive working relationships with HRPS customers Communicate clearly and collegially with all SoN constituents, including customers, central offices, vendors, and colleagues Contribute to working groups or project teams as assigned Other duties as assigned This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in human resources administration within a vibrant, university setting. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree and two years of work experience in fiscal, accounting, or payroll experience Additional requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint Experience which demonstrates consistent attention to detail and accuracy of work Demonstrated ability to successfully manage work and maintain focus across competing priorities and amid frequent interruptions Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision Proven ability to proactively and independently solve problems in both routine and urgent situations High proficiency in English communication skills, including clear and professional written and oral communication Potential to interact and work effectively with teams and customers across a wide range of backgrounds and identities Candidates are encouraged to highlight if they have any of the following: Experience with HR or payroll processes in a university or research setting. Proficiency in using a modern Human Resources/Payroll system like Workday Experience with HRIS systems Experience creating ad hoc reports from multiple sources Working Environment Temperature-controlled shared office environment within the HR Office, and some work from home office environment. Frequent interruptions from customers and coworkers throughout the day. Ability to bring assigned computer and materials to and from work if telework assigned. Conditions of Employment During high workload periods, employees may need to flex their schedules, which can include occasional evening or early?morning hours or changes to designated in?person days.
