JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Manager is pivotal in managing and nurturing the financial vitality of the company. This role encompasses overseeing all accounting practices, ensuring the precision of financial reporting, and establishing robust systems and controls to minimize risks while enhancing the accuracy of financial outcomes in adherence to generally accepted accounting principles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Team Leadership Lead and optimize the accounting department operations, fostering a culture of accountability and prioritization. Recruit, groom, and develop the accounting team, providing constructive feedback through regular performance assessments. Encourage a collaborative and improvement-focused organizational culture. Facilitate financial education for non-financial managers to enhance overall financial understanding. Guide the setting of team objectives and monitor progress to drive successful assignment completion. Oversee joint ventures to ensure operational success and sustainability. Offer expertise in researching accounting and auditing practices to colleagues and clients. Accounting and Finance Operations Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, billing, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Organize and oversee the month-end closing processes efficiently. Handle regular accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. Effectively manage the financial operations of joint ventures. Create and maintain thorough accounting policies and procedures. Collaborate closely with the team to ensure punctual and accurate invoicing and collections within defined credit terms. Budgeting & Forecasting Work alongside the CFO and departmental leaders throughout the annual budgeting cycle. Prepare continuous forecasts and cash flow projections for sustainable financial planning. Analyze actual performance against budgets, providing detailed variance reports. Deliver strategic insights geared toward cost management, margin enhancement, and working capital strategies. Accounting System Oversight Act as the primary administrator for the accounting and job costing system, Deltek Ajera. Lead system upgrades, troubleshooting, data integrity maintenance, and user support initiatives. Identify opportunities for process automation and streamline accounting procedures through innovative technology. Collaborate with IT and software vendors to boost financial system efficiency. Train accounting and project personnel on system functionalities and best practices. Reporting Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations and laws. Establish a robust internal control structure to safeguard company assets. Supervise all tax filings and manage financial proforma evaluation preparations. Create benchmarks to measure operational performance against corporate goals. Generate necessary financial and operational metrics for management analysis. Lead the annual budget and forecast development, including variance computations and management reporting. Produce management cost reports and perform financial analyses related to capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations. Compliance Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits, providing actionable suggestions for improvements. Monitor corporate debt levels, ensuring adherence to debt covenants and reporting obligations. Guarantee compliance with both internal regulations and external legal obligations. Other Duties as Assigned by CFO Required Skills KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: In-depth understanding of accounting principles and GAAP, with a solid grasp of company financial policies. Extensive knowledge of accounts payable/receivable systems, general ledger processes, and corporate operating protocols. Proficient in project costing and analysis while ensuring compliance with company credit and collections policies. Computer Literacy: Highly skilled in Ajera or Vision accounting software, with proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel). Comprehensive knowledge of automated accounting systems for managing diverse financial transactions. Meticulous attention to detail, with the capability to independently handle various financial tasks accurately. Aptitude to exercise sound judgment and decision-making, recognizing the implications of choices made. Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and negotiating effectively to foster teamwork. Required Experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Experience: 8-10 years of pertinent accounting experience, particularly in the engineering, construction, or professional services industries. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred but not mandatory. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is primarily a sedentary role, with occasional filing tasks required. Capability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and perform tasks while standing or bending when necessary. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is conducted in a professional office atmosphere. Standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines is regularly utilized.
