Optical Network Solutions Engineer Join our dynamic team as an Optical Network Solutions Engineer and play a crucial role in delivering innovative network solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside various internal and external teams, where you will manage and implement cutting-edge IP network solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle. Your expertise in developing network designs, creating visually engaging diagrams with Visio, configuring network equipment, and maintaining comprehensive documentation will be key to your success. Essential Functions: Collaborate effectively with the IXC Deployment Team, IXC Engineering, and Telco circuit design engineers to accurately document circuit designs within Optical networks. Ensure precise documentation of Carrier HUBs and circuits and validate that network POP design documents align with the as-built configurations. Record any design deviations and submit ClearQuest PTRs for necessary design changes or corrections. Support scheduled maintenance events and lead the installation and activation of SONET and related equipment. Work closely with Telco Carrier and field technicians to troubleshoot and resolve activation issues with newly deployed circuits. Adhere to MetaSolv/DICE workflows and maintain IXC circuit databases as installations and modifications occur. Provision Optical IXC circuits using Cisco Prime Optical or Cisco Transport Controller and configure ancillary equipment for a variety of circuit setups. Verify circuit provisioning adheres to design specifications and proactively resolve discrepancies before customer handoff. Interface with internal and external customers, providing technical support during service activation and circuit testing. Monitor optical network alarms, investigate root causes, and implement solutions to minimize disruptions. Contribute recommendations for process improvements and assist in upholding controlled documentation. Support maintenance activities during regular office hours and be available after hours/weekends as necessary. Assist in data gathering for network issue analysis and execute test procedures while providing constructive feedback. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 2 years of experience; alternatively, 8 years of relevant experience without a degree. At least 3 years of preferred experience with SONET equipment and Optical Circuits, particularly with Cisco ONS-15310, ONS-15454, and Fujitsu Flashwave platforms. Ability to obtain a security clearance is required. Preferred Additional Skills: Familiarity with NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes. Strong technical knowledge of various circuit types, including Gigabit Ethernet, DS1/T1, DS3, STS1, and OC3-OC192. Understanding of trouble tickets, ticket management, and Change Management processes. Experience with Cisco Prime Optical, Cisco Transport Controller, and Fujitsu NetSmart. Preference for familiarity with MetaSolv and DICE. MEF-CECP certification is a plus. Resources will be required to work on client's site in Melbourne, FL. Non-local candidates will be compensated accordingly for this long-term assignment.
